Snapped this sequence as one of the Vultures buzzed the overlook. They were doing it repeatedly, clearly just having fun.

Green Heron - Sunrise Valley Park - Reston, VA

A few pics from a short visit to Sunrise Valley Park, a small natural/man-made wetlands park with a little boardwalk, surrounded by office buildings. I spotted this Green Heron who posed for me before flying off and landing in the brush along the shore. I also saw this family of deer from across the marsh, about 150 yards.

Red-shouldered Hawk - Difficult Run, VA

As I walked along the creek, I saw this hawk swoop across the water and up into the tree. He sat there for a moment and then swooped down right over the footpath ahead and into the treeline, out of sight. It looked like he was getting ready to land so I quietly hurried down the path and creeped around a tree. There he was on the dead tree trunk so I took this shot. The sound of the shutter was enough for him so that was the only one.
